Children of Lawrence Mathis and Dorothy Mathilda Plumoff Gerwitz

Kathleen Leola, born August 1, 1944 in Baltimore, MD.  On November 5, 1966 she married Louis James Wanner, Jr. born September 30, 1946, in Baltimore, MD, son of Louis James Wanner and Vivian Estelle Godsey Wanner.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1964.  He attained the rank of E-6, electricians Mate 1st Class.  He spent his enlistment at various duty stations mainly on the East Coast.  He finished his enlistment in October 1972 with an honorable discharge at the Philadelphia Naval Station where he taught NBC Warfare Defense for 3 years.

Kathleen graduated Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School with a Diploma and cosmetology license.  She graduated 1st in her class.  When she met Jim, she became a homemaker and mother.  For 3 years, she worked at Municipal County Clerk for Elsinboro Township in her home in Salem County, NJ.

I, Kathy, am adding on March 10, 1996 that I have been fighting colon cancer for 6 years.  I was first stricken in May 1990 and had a recurrence that was diagnosed in September 1995 and successfully treated in October and November 1995.  One of the reasons I am updating this record is the importance to the future generations which has gone before.

1999 Update:  Kathy passed away on January 24, 1999 from Colon Cancer.  She fought to live for a very long time, that stubborn Gerwitz trait.
